Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin TD has paid tribute to Judge Con Murphy following his death yesterday after a short illness.
“I want to extend my deepest sympathies to Con’s wife Miriam, his mother, his sister Margaret, brothers Phil and Dan, and his entire circle of family and friends following his untimely death yesterday.
“Con was a gifted member of the legal profession, a passionate supporter of the GAA and a man who will be remembered for his significant contributions to the law, his community and to Irish public service.
“I have known Con over many years. Con believed in his community and in turn they believed in him and put their trust in him when he was elected as a Town Commissioner and Chairman of the town council as a representative of our party.
“As well as being a successful election candidate, Con also had a sharp strategic mind when it came to politics and elections, something he would put to good use as an election agent for Joe Walsh. The party owes him a debt of gratitude.
“In more recent years, Con become a Judge of the Circuit Court. His family and friends, both inside and outside the legal profession, respected and appreciated his skills and approach.
“Con’s contributions to family, law and community, though cut short, were significant and will not be forgotten. As Leader of Fianna Fáil I want to pay tribute to his immense service down the years.”
