Sligo Senator Marc Mac Sharry has welcomed confirmation of a €10 million investment by GlaxoSmithKline in the Stiefel plant in Sligo.

“This announcement follows several years of hard work by the management and staff at Stiefel and by state agencies,” said Senator Mac Sharry.

“It is a significant vote of confidence in Sligo and particularly in the skills and dedication of the workers at this plant.  I want to pay tribute to the team at Stiefel who have shown great strength and commitment over the past number of years.  Their hard work and their perseverance have made this investment possible.

“I am hopeful that this investment will lead to further job creation on top of the 120 posts that will be retained at the plant,” said Senator Mac Sharry.
