Fianna Fáil Dublin-Central General Election candidate, Mary Fitzpatrick has said that delays in LUAS services are now a near daily occurrence for passengers.
Passengers were warned late this afternoon to expect delays to green line LUAS services for the remainder of the evening.
Fitzpatrick commented, “Since the launch of the LUAS Cross City service in January, LUAS users have become more and more disillusioned by a poor quality transport service.
“Dublin commuters have sadly come to expect these delays and no longer acknowledge them as temporary. It is becoming abundantly clear that delays are now a part of daily services.
“The launch of the LUAS Cross City service is continuing to cause bedlam in the Capital while the Minister for Transport turns a blind eye, hoping they will sort themselves out.
“It is essential that Minister Ross engages with all stakeholders, including Transdev, in order to establish what precisely is required to restore the efficiency of LUAS services.
“These passengers are paying for a service, in many instances by a yearly rate, and should be able to assume a reliable and efficient service.
She concluded, “These near constant delays will not be tolerated and the Minister has a responsibility to find a solution.”
