Fianna Fáil spokesperson on Justice, Equality and Defence Dara Calleary TD has condemned the terrorist threats in London ahead of the State visit to Ireland of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.
“Today’s security threats in London are the actions of misguided criminals who are ignorant of the true values of republicanism,” said Deputy Calleary.
“The message must go out loud and clear that the foolish actions of terrorists will not distract from what is an extremely positive and historic event in our country’s history. The State visit of Queen Elizabeth this week further proves the success of the peace process and the determination of people across Ireland and Britain to move on from the oppression of the past.
“There is great excitement around the country ahead of Queen Elizabeth’s arrival to our shores tomorrow. This is a time to be thankful of the progress we have made in bringing peace to our island, and look forward to further strengthening our relationship with our nearest neighbours.”
