Local Fianna Fáil TD in Dublin Mid-West, John Curran has said drug units operating within An Garda Síochana need to be properly resourced to be able to continue with drug seizures in and around the Capital.
The Deputy was commenting following last night’s seizure of Heroin, Cocaine and Cannabis resin in the area worth an estimated €920,000.
He said, “This latest Garda seizure is helpful and sends a very clear message to anyone engaging in the illegal sale or distribution of drugs that this clamp down is continuing.
“That said drug busts of this scale need to occur far more often in order to effectively disrupt the supply of dangerous and highly addictive illegal substances in the locality.
“Sadly, drug related crime continues to hold entire communities across West Dublin to ransom. The issues associated with it extend beyond those that are directly involved with these gangs. Residents are frightened.
“Local drug units operating within An Garda Síochana need to be properly resourced to be able to continue with their efforts to obstruct the supply of drugs in communities,” concluded Deputy Curran.
