Kilcock’s Scoil Uí Riada is set for a third stream from this September according to Local TD , Frank O Rourke who praised the work of the Principal, Staff, Board of Management and parents for the focused and collaborative approach that they adopted in securing this good news.
“Kilcock’s Scoil Uí Riada will have a third stream from this September which will help cater for the increased demand in the Kilcock area for primary school places.”
“From 2009 to 2011, Ireland had an extremely high birth rate. In fact in 2009, we had a birth rate of over 75,500, the highest since 1896. Areas like Kilcock have seen a growth in population over the last 10 years and we need to ensure that we campaign for extra school places to cater for the increased demand that is being placed on our school infrastructure, both in terms of teaching staff and physical buildings.”
“This extra stream for Kilcock Scoil Uí Riada is welcome news, and I was delighted, with others, to have worked closely with the key stakeholders to achieve this outcome.” Stated Deputy O’Rourke.
“In the coming years, we need to keep focused on ensuring that we increase the capacity of both of primary and secondary school network. We are going to see increased demand and we need to be ahead of it rather than playing catch up.” concluded Deputy O’Rourke, who has met with a number of school managements recently in relation to their demands for increased capacity.
