Kerry Fianna Fáil TD, John Brassil has said that Kerry must get its fair share of the €1 million in Budget 2017 for community CCTV schems.

Deputy Brassil was commenting following receipt of a parliamentary reply from the Minister for Justice and Law Reform that confirms the budget allocation and that a further announcement will be made soon.

In recent weeks, we have heard from a number of Kerry based community CCTV groups who are crying out for funding to deal with increasing anti-social behaviour.

The Minister must ensure that Kerry gets its fair share of the Budget allocation. It cannot be all used in the major cities of the country; regional towns such as Tralee, Killarney and Listowel desperately need the support of CCTV schemes bring.

“Once the Minister makes her announcement on the scheme, and the criteria that will be applied, I will get in touch with all existing community schemes in the county and provide them with support, if needed, in making an application,” concluded Brassil.
