Fianna Fáil has welcomed news of a major investment by the Kerry Group in Co Kildare that will lead to the creation of 900 jobs over the next four years.
Kildare South Fianna Fáil TD Seán Ó Fearghaíl said, “This is fantastic news not just for Naas and Co Kildare, but also for the wider domestic economy. I am delighted that Kerry Group, one of the strongest and most successful Irish companies, has chosen Naas for such a significant investment.   It is a major coup for Kildare and a strong vote of confidence in what we have to offer.
“There will be huge interest both locally and nationally in the jobs that will be created during construction and in the high-quality positions based at the new facility. There is no doubt that local business will also benefit from the increased activity in Naas as result of this development,” Deputy Ó Fearghaíl said.
Fianna Fáil’s Spokesperson on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Dara Calleary has congratulated the Kerry Group and Enterprise Ireland.
“The Kerry Group’s investment of €100 million in a global technology and innovation centre continues Ireland’s strong position as a global technology hub,” said Deputy Calleary.
“Over the past number of years we have secured major investment from global technology firms like Facebook and Twitter which have created thousands of highly skilled jobs here.  This has helped secure Ireland’s reputation as a great place to do business and this latest investment by the Kerry Group provides another welcome boost.
“I am urging the Jobs Minister Richard Bruton to use this announcement as a platform for attracting further investment by both Irish and international businesses.  We have seen a worrying lack of leadership so far from this Government on tackling the jobs crisis and supporting the business community. But there is a significant opportunity now to turn this around and I am appealing to the Minister to take advantage of this.”
