Fianna Fáil election candidate for Dublin Rathdown Senator Mary White has described the Inheritance Tax as an unfair, anti-Dublin tax. The party’s Seanad spokesperson on Enterprise, Jobs & Innovation was speaking at the IBEC Business Breakfast in Dublin today (Friday 16 October).

“The Budget announcement on Inheritance Tax as done little to address the unfairness of this punitive tax. It is crippling bereaved people in my constituency with many being forced to sell the family home to pay their bills,” she said.

“An only child who inherits a home in South Dublin valued at €520,000 would be forced to pay €79,200 in Inheritance Tax. This is unfair and makes it an anti-Dublin tax.”
