Fianna Fáil TD for Cork South Central, Micheál Martin, has welcomed the new airline route between Cork and Brussels, which was announced by Aer Lingus this week.
Deputy Martin said: “At a time when everyone is working to develop the tourism product in Cork and around the country, this is significant news. Cork is one of the main gateway cities in Ireland and the fact that this development significantly extends the options for tourists coming from mainland Europe is very welcome.
“We have a state-of-the-art airport and a world class tourist product. This is good news for Cork and good news for the south west. I hope that proper resources are put in place to promote the new route and that business and tourist customers alike take full advantage of the service. I would also encourage Aer Lingus to look at extending the service beyond the summer period.”
