Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin TD has congratulated the successful candidates in a series of hotly contested elections held during the party’s Árd Fheis this weekend.

Timmy Dooley TD and Senator Mary White will be joined as Vice Presidents by Aine Brady (Kildare North), Kathryn Byrne (Dublin South East) and Lisa Chambers (Mayo). Dara Calleary will be joined as Joint Honorary Secretary by Margaret Conlon (Monaghan).

Deputy Martin commented:

“The level of competition within the party for a range of roles was hugely encouraging this weekend.  I would like to congratulate those who have been elected and sincerely thank those who they are replacing for their dedication and effort.

“I also want to thank the thousands of members who made this weekend’s Árd Fheis such an energetic and positive event. The radical changes to how the party is organised and the range of policy debate has given our membership a renewed sense of purpose.  I’m looking forward to working with all those elected this weekend to build on what has been done and continue the renewal of our policies and our answers to the problems people are facing every day.”

Counting of ballots in the election for the party’s Committee of Twenty continues.
