Fianna Fáil TD for Limerick, Niall Collins, has welcomed the announcement that Regeneron Pharmaceuticals will establish a production plant at Raheen Business Park with the creation of 300 jobs.
Deputy Collins commented: “Today’s announcement by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is a significant boost to Limerick and a major vote of confidence for the sector.
“With many drugs coming off patent this year, there has been fears expressed for the future of the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland. Hopefully, this announcement will allay some of these fears and encourage more investment in the sector here.
“The €218 million investment in biopharmaceuticals at the site of the old Dell plant is significant and heralds a new dawn for the site at Raheen Business Park.
“The 600 construction jobs that will be created on a temporary basis is also welcome and a much needed fillip for that sector as well.
“There are almost 30,000 people in Limerick on the live register, one of the highest rates in the country. Not enough has been done by the Government to foster job growth in the county, hopefully this announcement by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals will lead to similar companies viewing Limerick as a place where they can invest.”
