Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Michael Moynihan, has welcomed the resolution of the dispute between ESB management and trade unions representing the workers.
“Like people all over the country I welcome the fact that the industrial action threatened by works at the ESB has been called off and I would call on all sides to step back from further public interpretation of the LRC agreement.
“There was considerable concern and fear felt by people throughout the country at the threat of power outages in the week before Christmas. Such a strike could have caused considerable damage to the Irish economy and had the potential to put many elderly people at risk.
“I am pleased that sensible heads prevailed and would like to acknowledge the constructive engagement of all those involved in the LRC talks.”
