Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North Central, Billy Kelleher, has paid tribute to former party TD Denis Lyons, who passed away yesterday.
He commented: “I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of my former party colleague Denis Lyons. Denis was a stalwart in the Fianna Fáil party and gave a life-long commitment to public service in his time as a TD and county councillor. He was hugely committed to his community through his involvement with the GAA and in the Scór competition.
“Denis also had a deep love of all things Irish, and he inspired many young people to take up the language during his time.
“Denis will be a huge loss to the Fianna Fáil party and I would like to extend my sympathy to his wife and six children at this very sad time.”
