FF Leader Welcomes former Labour Councillor to Party

The Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin TD has today welcomed Cllr Jenny McHugh into Fianna Fáil following her decision to resign from the Labour Party.

Deputy Martin commented, “Over the course of the last two and a half years, Fianna Fáil has worked very hard to reconnect with communities and this has been reflected in the policies and priorities we bring to our work in the Dáil, Seanad and local authorities.

“We are offering constructive opposition and real alternatives and we welcome all those who want to be a part of that work.

“I am particularly pleased to welcome Cllr Jenny McHugh to the party.  Jenny is a hard-working and energetic councillor with deep roots in her community and a strong commitment to education and social justice.  She is a valuable addition to our team in Meath and I look forward to her contribution to our work developing and promoting a fairer way to recovery.”

Cllr McHugh commented, “I became involved in politics because I had a passion for the education of our young people and a commitment to fairness in public policy.  Over the last two years it has become increasingly clear to me that the party which most closely shares those values is the Fianna Fáil Party under the leadership of Micheál Martin.

“I am looking forward to working with Micheál and the Fianna Fáil team in Meath to play my part in tackling the unfairness at the heart of this Government’s agenda and coming forward with real alternatives.”
