Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan Brendan Smith has expressed his grave disappointment following an announcement by Liberty Insurance that they are seeking 70 staff redundancies at their sites in Cavan and Dublin.
Deputy Brendan Smith stated, “The loss of more jobs at Liberty Insurance in Cavan is a serious blow for the local economy and is particularly difficult for the employees that will be affected. Over the past number of years we have seen staff numbers in Cavan severely reduced. This is an anxious and uncertain time for workers and their families and my thoughts are with them.
“I have already been in contact with Liberty Insurance and have emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong presence in Cavan, and have asked that job losses at the site be minimised. There is a very skilled and committed workforce in the town, many of whom have been involved in the insurance business for decades and whose knowledge and experience is invaluable”.
