Fianna Fáil Seanad Leader Darragh O’Brien has welcomed the decision by the Seanad Committee on Selection to nominate Senator Marc Mac Sharry to the Oireachtas banking inquiry.
He commented: “I welcome the decision by the Seanad Committee on Selection to nominate Senator Marc Mac Sharry as one its selections to the Oireachtas banking inquiry.
“Marc will be an excellent member of the inquiry team and his contributions on a range of topics in the Seanad over the last number of years prove just how objective and fair he is. I also welcome the nomination of Seán Barrett to the inquiry and I have no doubt that both Senators will make valuable and worthwhile contributions to what I hope is a fair and objective inquiry.
“I now expect the Government to approve the selections of the Seanad committee and proceed with plans for the banking inquiry that should seek to establish the full truth of the banking crisis in the country.”
