Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Michael Moynihan TD, has reacted to confirmation today from the Government that Coillte and Bord na Móna will be merged.
Deputy Moynihan commented: “Today in the Dáil it was confirmed that Coillte and Bord Na Móna will indeed be merged.
“Yesterday the Minister for Agriculture released a statement saying that a “robust analysis” would be carried out to consider how a merger between Coillte and Bord na Móna might happen.
“It seems that this analysis has been carried out in record time and the decision has been made to merge both semi-state companies. I hope this is not another rash decision by the Government where the priority is headlines first, substance later.
“These two important semi-state bodies employ hundreds of people throughout the county and it must also be a priority to protect workers in both companies.”
