Fianna Fáil Local Election candidate in Howth-Malahide, Cllr Eoghan O’Brien has said Local Authority investment in projects such as Casino House is essential in protecting an areas heritage.
Cllr O’Brien said, “Earlier this month, I was delighted to get a look at the newly restored & refurbished Casino House in Malahide, which will house the famous Fry Model Railway.
“The incredible generosity of the late Micheal Gaffney meant this wonderful heritage property could be fully restored as a public amenity. Completing this local restoration project to get it back up and running was deeply important to me and many others locally. The council officials and contractors appointed to complete this project have done an excellent job.
“The time expertise given by Colette Smith, Nora Owen, GV Wright, Michael Howard, Matt McNulty & Matt Ryan was central in getting to these final stages. It’s clear from this success that delivering sustained local investment to improve public amenities and infrastructure has positive outcomes. Maintaining an appropriate level of funding to protect our local heritage remains an absolute priority for me going forward.
“Casino House will be open to the public from this September and I hope everyone makes an effort to take a look at the craftsmanship that was involved in bringing the property back up to standard,” he concluded.
