Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Disability Margaret Murphy O’Mahony TD says she is concerned by today’s revelations that two investigations are underway into allegations of abuse at a disability services provider based in Wicklow and South-East Dublin.
Deputy Murphy O’Mahony says it is important that a thorough investigation is completed in a timely manner.
“I was shocked to learn that two investigations are underway following allegations of abuse at a disability services provider in Wicklow and South-East Dublin. I understand that five staff members have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigations.
“It is important that these investigations are conducted in a timely manner to allay any fears that service users at the facility may have. This is undoubtedly a difficult time for the service users and their families. Minister for Disabilities Finian McGrath must ensure that they are given the support that they need pending the outcome of these investigations,“ concluded Deputy Murphy O’Mahony.
