The annual General Liam Lynch National commemoration will take place at Kilcrumper Cemetery, Fermoy this Sunday, September 2 2012.
Sunday will mark the 89th anniversary of the death of General Liam Lynch on the Knockmealdown Mountains in South Tipperary. Fianna Fáil Cllr Frank O’Flynn, Chairman of the National Liam Lynch Commemoration Committee, stated that he is delighted that this year’s oration will be given by Dr John O’Mahony, Senior Counsel.
Cllr O’Flynn said: “The programme of events on Sunday will consist of Mass, which will be celebrated at 10.30am in St Patrick’s Church, Fermoy. At 12 noon the parade led by a pipe band will march from the Queen of Peace Church Fermoy to the republican plot in Kilcrumper cemetery where General Liam Lynch is buried.
“Wreaths will be laid on the Republican Plot at 12.20 pm followed by the Dr. John O’Mahony Senior Counsel, who will give the oration. All are welcome to attend.”
