Members of an Garda Siochana have been commended for their sensitivity when dealing with the tragedy in Carrickmines last weekend by Cllr Mary Hanafin, Chairperson of the Joint Policing Committee of Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council.
“The manner in which members of an Garda Siochana and in particular Chief Inspector Diarmuid O’Sullivan responded to what was a very traumatic and difficult situation is to be admired,” said CllrHanafin.
“I would also like to express my sympathy to an Garda Siochana on the loss of their colleague Garda Tony Golden and to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy in Carrickmines.”
“It was a very difficult weekend for members of the force and also the emergency services, all of whom responded with great alacrity and professionalism. It was very obvious at the briefing just how traumatic the situation was for those who attended the scene,” added CllrHanafin.
