The first meeting of North Wicklow Ógra Fianna Fáil was a huge success. Last night exactly 85 years ago to the day, when on the 23rd March 1926 the first meeting took place to discuss the formation of Fianna Fáil.
The launch night of the North Wicklow Ógra Fianna Fáil could not have gone any better as one clear message came from the night. 85 years on from the day the 23rd of March 1926 when the Fianna Fáil party was formed, the Fianna Fáil party is alive and kicking.
There was standing room only at the meeting in the Ramada hotel in Bray. As young people came in their droves to put forward their ideas and to discuss the rebuilding of the Fianna Fáil party. Richard Grant laid out a very impressive set of events that they will be involved in. The group is very enthusiastic and ready to reengage the community by getting involved with several projects. The amount of young people present was outstanding including a big female presence which was great to see for the future of politics.
Stephen Brady spoke about the party making a clean break with young people and how important youth were to rebuilding fianna fail. The groups were treated tea and sandwiches and then guest speaker Charlie mcConalogue spoke about his experience as a young T.D and how important it was for Fianna Fáil to ask themselves the tough questions, pick themselves up and move forward. There was a lot of optimism in the air at the end of the meeting with people mixing extremely well. The future looks bright for Fianna Fáil in wicklow
