Fianna Fáil TD for Mayo Dara Calleary has been appointed Fianna Fáil Director for Local Elections by Party Leader Michéal Martin TD.

Deputy Calleary will have responsibility for the local election candidates across all constituencies as they contest the local elections for Fianna Fáil on May 24th.

Deputy Calleary commented, “It is an honour to be appointed our Party’s Director for the Local Elections. As Deputy Leader I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting with our local election candidates across our country over the past number of months as we formulate policy in advance of our upcoming elections.

“As the largest party at local government Fianna Fáil is represented in every community. In our own constituency we are the joint largest party on Mayo County Council and have seen how important these numbers are for getting work done.

“Through our community involvement we direct our policy development so our work at a national and local level is representative of our societies. I look forward to the next seven weeks and a successful campaign for our local and European candidates on May 24th,” concluded Deputy Calleary.
