Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Agriculture, Éamon Ó Cuív TD, has announced that the Fianna Fáil tent at this year’s National Ploughing Championships will hold daily clinics for consultation on the new CAP and other farming issues.
The Fianna Fáil tent will be located at Block 3, Row U, Stand 344 and there will be clinics during every day of the championships between 11am and 4pm.
Deputy Ó Cuív commented: “There are many farmers who are still unsure of what the new CAP deal means for them. At the Ploughing Championships, Fianna Fáil will have a panel on hand between 11am and 4pm made up of experts and TDs or Senators where farmers and those involved in agriculture can come for advice on the CAP proposals and the options open to Ireland under the new CAP.
“Another purpose of our clinics is to consult and listen to farmers about their views on the CAP deal and the consequences for Ireland and Irish farming. The Fianna Fáil team will listen to the input of farmers and this will help inform the party’s position on CAP.
“Fianna Fáil will also use the clinics to consult with farmers on budget options and these discussions will contribute to the party’s position ahead of next month’s budget.
“I am looking forward to attending the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, County Laois in two weeks. The championships are a celebration of Irish farming and Irish agriculture and I am sure the ploughing matches as well as the many exhibitors on show will again be of the highest quality. It promises to be another great festival.”
