Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin has expressed his deepest sympathies to the family of the late Irish football player, Liam Miller.

“I was deeply saddened to hear of Liam’s passing late last night. He was an exceptional footballing talent who has been taken from his loving family at all too young an age.

“Everyone in Cork was very proud of him when he made his debut for Celtic and of course when he came home to play for Cork City.

“Liam was immensely proud to have played for his country for over five years. Irish football has lost a determined, skilful and loyal servant following his death.

“My thoughts and condolences go out to his wife Clare, and children Kory, Leo and Belle, to his parents Billy and Bridie, and his brothers Sean, Robby and Martin, and his sister Suzanne.

“Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
