Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin TD has this morning secured the agreement of the Government to reconvene the Dáil next week to discuss the ongoing Eurozone crisis.

Deputy Martin commented, “At this time of great economic uncertainty and crisis in the Eurozone, I found it quite unbelievable that the Government proposed to send the Dáil into recess for what could be the most crucial week of the crisis.  I put this to the Taoiseach and pressed him on setting aside the timetable and reconvening the Dáil to ensure that we were prepared as a country to deal with whatever emerges in Europe.  I welcome his u-turn and decision to take up my suggestion.”
