Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin has extended his warmest congratulations to Mary Davis on her appointment as Special Olympics Chief Executive Officer. She is the first person from outside the US to hold the esteemed post.
Deputy Martin commented, “I want to congratulate Mary Davis on her appointment Special Olympics Chief Executive Officer. She will bring a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and passion to the role having dedicated almost 40 years to the Special Olympics movement.
“Mary was instrumental in the success of the Special Olympic World Summer Games, which were hosted in Ireland in 2003, and which placed Special Olympics at the heart of every village, town and city across the country. Since then she has continued to drive awareness of the Special Olympics movement throughout Europe and Asia.
“Mary Davis is a proud ambassador for Ireland and will be a wonderful Chief Executive for Special Olympics. I wish her well in this exciting endeavour”.
