The Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin TD has congratulated his fellow parishioner Bishop Kieran O’Reilly on his appointment as Bishop of Cashel and Emly by Pope Francis, following the retirement of Archbishop Dermot Clifford.

Deputy Martin commented, “I would like to offer Bishop O’Reilly my congratulations in his new post.  I have known Kieran since our youth in Turner’s Cross and have watched his career over many years, as he first travelled to Liberia, studied in Rome and then travelled to Nigeria to lecture.  In later years he was an able leader of the Society of African Missions before taking up his role as Bishop of Killaloe.

“I know him to be a man of humility and very deep faith and wish him the very best as he takes up the leadership of the Diocese of Cashel and Emly”.
