Fianna Fáil TD for Louth Declan Breathnach says every effort must be made to secure the future of hundreds of jobs at eBay’s operation in Dundalk.
Deputy Breathnach said, “Serious doubt has emerged in recent weeks over the future of eBay’s operation in Dundalk. It’s been suggested that the company could be on the verge of pulling out of County Louth due to issues in securing adequate accommodation.
“Every effort must be made by the Government to find alternative accommodation for eBay. The company currently employs over 200 people in Dundalk and is a major contributor to the local economy in Louth. The company previously indicated that it wished to expand its workforce to 450 workers so that’s what we should be aiming to achieve.
“We need a cross party effort to convince eBay to continue with its operations in Dundalk. Workers need certainty regarding the future of their jobs, so there is an onus on us all to work together to secure eBay’s continued commitment to Dundalk.”
