Pat the cope Gallagher MEP has confirmed that a grant of €108,000 has been approved by MFG/Leader for the development by, Forbairt na Rosann, of sporting facilities at Church road, Dungloe. It is expected that the project will cost over €140,000 with the balance of the funding coming from local contribution.

The community facility will consist of the provision of a playing pitch, perimeter fencing and alteration to car park facilities.  Planning permission for the project has been granted and tenders received. It is expected that the work will commence within weeks and should be completed by the end of the year. The facilities will be used by local sporting groups and will be of great benefit to the youth of the area pat the cope paid tribute to MFG/Leader, Forbairt na Rosann and the local clubs for their commitment to the provision of facilities for the youth of the area.

Pat the cope stated that this is another example of how European funds can be used to the best advantage as 55% of leader funds comes from the European Union with the balance from the exchequer. The leader programme has been operating in Ireland since 1991 with substantial transfer of funds from Europe over the past 20 years. This announcement has been warmly welcomed to Sen. Brian o Domhnaill and Local councillor David Alcorn.
