Dublin West by-election candidate David McGuinness has said Dublin 15 would be a great location for the office Twitter is establishing in Ireland.
Cllr McGuinness said: “The news that Twitter is locating in Ireland is a great boost for the country and another example of the strength of the growing web sector here.
“We already have eBay and PayPal based in Blanchardstown and there is great potential for future growth across west Dublin.
“Fianna Fáil has been pushing hard to have Twitter locate its European headquarters here.  Despite the company’s decision to locate this in London, the presentation of Ireland to Twitter clearly made an impression and I look forward to Twitter starting and growing its Ireland operation.
“I want to congratulate the IDA for all their work on securing this important announcement.  I would also call on the IDA now to start examining possible sites for Twitter’s Irish operations in west Dublin.  The IDA college business & technology park is a significant strength in the area and there are many more prime locations that the IDA could present to Twitter in advance of its location decision.”
