Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Transport, Tourism and Sport Timmy Dooley TD has welcomed the introduction of Free Wi-Fi on part of the Irish Rail network, starting with a number of trains on the Dublin-Cork service.
“This is a really welcome development. I think it’s going to improve the capacity for those in business to travel by train and will also enhance the tourism market as the system is rolled out across a wider number of trains.
“Three trains operating today on the Dublin-Cork route have Wi-Fi and I welcome Irish Rail’s statement that testing will be ongoing with a view to expanding the service across the full Dublin-Cork fleet. I think is only right that the ambition should be to have a full Free Wi-Fi service available across the Irish Rail fleet in the years ahead.
“There will be many commuters who will find the statement from Irish Rail today about the possibility of introducing wi-fi across the DART and Commuter fleet for daily commuters. The company is in talks with the National Transport Authority and I hope this is something that can be brought about in the future”, concluded Deputy Dooley.
