Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Sport, Timmy Dooley, has extended his best wishes to the Irish athletes taking part in the Special Olympics World Winter Games, which starts tomorrow in Pyeong Chang, South Korea.

There will be 14 athletes from Ireland competing in Alpine Skiing and Floorball at the games, which will see participants from 112 countries take part.

Deputy Dooley commented: “I would like to extend my best wishes to Head of the Delegation, Barbara Cahill and all the athletes taking part in the World Winter Games.

“Last Thursday at Leinster House I has the pleasure of meeting with Special Olympics Team Ireland members, coaches and family members to wish them well at the games. Talking to the athletes I know they are very much looking forward to competing at the games and challenging for medals.

“They have already done their country proud and I know how excited the athletes are in representing Ireland. It promises to be a hugely successful games and Team Ireland will have the full support of the country over the next week.”
