Stephen Donnelly, Fianna Fáil TD for Wicklow has called on Eir to provide clarity on the provision of Broadband services in Wicklow.
Donnelly wrote to CEO Richard Moat on the back of numerous reports by Wicklow residents that they were marked as able to receive high speed broadband, but that they could not.
Speaking in Wicklow today, Deputy Donnelly commented, “The rollout of high speed broadband across Wicklow is a major priority. Over the last few months, I have been contacted by a number of Wicklow residents who are marked on the fibre map as having access to high speed broadband, but cannot be connected by providers.
“This problem is not isolated to one particular area. Constituents have contacted me from Kilcoole, Greystones, Blessington and Arklow.
“With the rollout of the National Broadband Plan, it’s vital to ensure that those who are marked as having high speed broadband can actually receive the service. If the map is wrong, we run the real risk of these premises being left behind.”
