Following the take over of Superquinn by Musgraves, Bray Town Council must meet with the new owners to discuss the future of the Superquinn land on Bray’s Southern Cross Road according to Cllr David Grant.

“This morning’s news that Superquinn has been taken over by Irish company Musgraves is a very welcome development and one that will secure the future of the supermarket chain and the employment that it provides.

This acquisition also brings a new player into the future of the Superquinn land at the south end of Bray that has been earmarked for development for over a decade.  Previous owners of the Superquinn chain were committed to developing a new supermarket on this site and despite a number of successful planning applications nothing has happened.

Continuously the owners had given a commitment to start their project but this has yet to materialise.

It is imperative now that Bray Town Council meets with Musgraves and establishes their intentions for the future of the site.  This is an opportunity to take action on the provision of much needed shopping facilities on the Southern Cross Road,” said Cllr Grant.
