Longford / Westmeath Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy and Councillor Mick Cahill have welcomed confirmation from ESB Networks that essential work will be carried out in the village of Abbeyshrule early next year.  Work will be carried out to remove overhead power lines and locate them underground.  
Councillor Cahill said: “ESB Networks has confirmed that it is committed to carrying out this work in Abbeyshrule in the first half of 2012 and in advance of next year’s tidy towns competition.  This is extremely important for the village.  
“The tidy towns committee is working extremely hard for next year’s event and this will be a great boost for them and will improve the feel and look of the village.  
Deputy Troy said: “I made contact with ESB Networks on behalf of my party colleague Councillor Mick Cahill.  I am delighted with the positive news for Abbeyshrule and look forward to seeing the work completed.
Cllr Cahill concluded: “I want to thank ESBN management for their commitment to Abbeyshrule and their understanding of the need for this work to be completed in a timely manner.
