Cllr David Grant, Cathaoirleach Bray Town Council has urged Bray’s residents to vote for Ballywaltrim Community Playground in the competition organised by Brennan’s Bread to award one community in Ireland with the funds for their playground to be renovated.

The Ballywaltrim Community Playground, which was pioneered by a group of local women in the 1990’s to provide much needed play facilities for the area’s children, was officially opened in the summer of 1999.  The project was funded through a range of fundraising initiatives organised by the community along with support from the National Lottery and Bray Credit Union.

The playground and the wider park is a valued amenity in Ballywaltrim and used by many young families on a daily basis.

“I am delighted that the playground has been short-listed for this public vote and is one of ten finalists vying for the prize of funds to repair and paint the play equipment and to provide additional equipment to make it the best playground in the country.

The Ballywaltrim Community Playground is facing stiff competition from playgrounds situated in major urban areas around the country, so it is important that everyone who can will vote and encourage others to do likewise.

People must vote online on the website, http://www.brennansbread.ie/playground/ before July 4th” said Cllr Grant.
