At this evenings meeting of Dublin City Council the Fianna Fail group will propose the following emergency motion;
“The elected members of Dublin City Council call on the Minister for the Environment to reverse his decision to cut funding to DCC for “Housing Adaptation Grants for People with a Disability and Mobility Aids / Housing Aids grants for Older People” by 50% in 2013. We call on the Minister to use some of the €100million available to, and unused by, him from Dormant Accounts to re-open these schemes which are vitally important to allow elderly and/or disabled people to continue to live independently. We call on the Manager to immediately re-open the scheme, make applications available to homeowners and not hide the real need for these grants by refusing to accept applications.“
Dublin City Council has recently been forced to close this extremely valuable and much used grant scheme because Minister Hogan cut funding for the scheme by 50% this year yet causing huge hardship to sick and elderly people in the city.
