Deputy Thomas Byrne has welcomed the reopening of the Clár programme.
The CLÁR Programme which provides funding for small scale infrastructural projects in disadvantaged rural areas that have experienced significant levels of depopulation. In Meath East, the areas included are the isolated rural communities of Ughtyneill, Cormeen and Tierworker.
“Ughtyneill School and Maio School will have €7,000 each spent on road safety equipment.
“The reintroduction of the Clar programme was a key demand of the Fianna Fáil party in our confidence and supply agreement with Fine Gael. Fine Gael had abolished the programme on taking office and we insisted on reopening it.
“Although the projects in Meath East are modest, I am encouraging local communities in the affected areas to consult with their political representatives to see what other projects could be advanced under the scheme” concluded the Meath East TD.
