Following my original motion at the January City Council meeting, I have been keeping a close eye on the process of by-passing the private reservoir in Hampton wood and connecting the water system in the estate directly to the City Council supply. Last night at the council meeting, I again asked for an update and received the following reply.
CITY MANAGER’S REPLY: “We received word this week from the developers of Hampton Wood that they have carried out the work required to locate and make valves operable. Providing the valves are located and operable we will be able to carry out a test of the alternative distribution method next week. The results of this test will determine how and when the reservoir can be bypassed on a permanent basis.”
I understand that if the tests are clear bypassing the water tower could take place in the next few weeks and certainly before the end of the summer. I want to thank all the residents who took time in December and January to lobby the city council to make this happen and I hope it will mean water is not an issue in Hampton Wood next winter.
