Meath East TD for Fianna Fáil Thomas Byrne has welcomed the news that a new bus service between Stamullen and Balbriggan will commence on 23rd January next. Deputy Byrne had previously called for such a service and has made numerous representations on the issue.

The timetable for the Stamullen and Balbriggan route will be integrated into the existing service.

Deputy Byrne said, “The commencement of a bus service between Stamullen and Balbriggan is a welcome development. I have made numerous representations on this issue calling for improved public transport services for the residents of Stamullen. This is something which I campaigned for since my election last February and it is positive to see progress being made on the issue.

“The service will start on Monday 23rd January 2017at 9.55 from Mountain View, Stamullen and will terminate at Balbriggan Train Station. The service will in effect link the entire area of Stamullen and Gormanston with Drogheda and Dublin. The service will undoubtedly have a very positive effect on the lives of those who live in the Stamullen and Gormanston areas.

“I have already received very positive feedback from the local community and I am assured that the service will be widely used by residents young and old.

“I want to commend both LocalLink (Flexibus) and the National Transport Authority for their persistence and for clearly listening to the concerns and needs of the local residents, concluded Deputy Byrne.
