Fianna Fáil TD for Cork East, Kevin O’Keeffe has asked that can we expect people to continue to use Bus Éireann services if they are not kept clean and tidy for customers?

Deputy O’Keeffe was commenting after a video emerged in the past 24 hours showing a vehicle used on the 245 route from Mitchelstown to Cork City in a terrible state.

“It’s just not on. People pay a lot of money to use Bus Éireann. The least they can expect is a clean and tidy bus.

“Bus Éireann needs to get their house in order and ensure that every bus is cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis.

“Not doing this will run the risk of customers choosing to make alternative plans for travelling to the city. This will only serve to erode the company’s financial base and risk route viability in rural Ireland into the future.

“I have written to Bus Éireann in relation to this issue and I await their reply.

“The management need to come clean and give a commitment to their customers that the buses they use will be clean and hygienic,” concluded O’Keeffe.
