Cllr David Grant, Cathaoirleach Bray Town Council started the formalities of the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Bray by welcoming everyone to the town and thanking those who turned up along the parade route to witness one of Ireland’s biggest celebrations for supporting the town’s community and voluntary groups.
In this its seventh year of the new format, Bray’s festival has become one of the greatest and most action packed event of our national day.
“I want to congratulate all involved in putting together the range of activities that started earlier in the week and that will continue over the weekend.
Our local Chamber of Commerce, the St Patrick’s Festival Committee, the many local volunteers without whom the parade could not be run and the sponsors from our business community.
I also want to acknowledge the support from An Garda Siochana and Bray Town Council’s outdoor staff,” said Cllr Grant.
Afterwards the Cathaoirleach congratulated all the parade entrants who provided so much colour, music and dance for the occasion. All groups did themselves proud and looked so well.
“St Patrick’s Festival activities will keep going over the weekend. The funfair will continue until Sunday, there will be plenty of local entertainment, traditional music sessions, the walking trail of St Patrick and the great Leprechaun Dash taking place on Saturday.
I hope that everyone can get out and enjoy the events,” concluded Cllr Grant.
