Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin TD has announced the appointment of Áine Brady as Fianna Fáil Local Area Representative for Clane Electoral Area in Kildare North. The appointment is an important step in the Party’s local and national renewal strategy.

Deputy Martin commented, “The ongoing effort to renew the Fianna Fáil party, which I undertook over a year ago, has resulted in strong engagement in communities around the country. What has struck me most in the time that I have spent with the Fianna Fáil organisation is the determination at every level to renew the Party and ensure Fianna Fáil’s place at the heart of Irish politics and society.

“A key part of this strategy is the appointment of talented and hard working community people as area representatives in places where Fianna Fáil needs to be rebuilt. In Áine Brady we have a person who meet all these requirements and is dedicated to representing and improving the quality of life of people in the Clane Electoral Area. Áine is also playing an extremely important role in the party’s reorganisation as Vice President on the party’s Ard Comhairle.”

Áine is married to Gerry and is a teacher and a mother of four. She has been politically active in Kildare and Fianna Fáil for many years. Áine lives in Clane with her family and served in the Dáil from 2007 to 2011.

Speaking about her appointment as an Area Representative, Ms Brady said: “I want to make a positive difference to the communities in Clane and across north Kildare. By becoming an Area Representative for Fianna Fáil, I hope to bring a strong focus to linking local and national politics and engage with people in community activism. I look forward to working alongside my party colleague Councillor Liam Doyle. I want to play my part in renewing positive Fianna Fáil politics in the area and ensuring that the policies being developed by the party include effective solutions to the problems being faced by people in this area.”

Deputy Martin concluded, “I would encourage people to engage with the Local Area Representatives being appointed if they would like to play a positive role in their community and to join with me in Fianna Fáil if they are interested in changing politics in Kildare and across the country.”
