Local Fianna Fáil Senator Erin McGreehan has welcomed the visit of her colleague Minister of State for Law Reform, James Browne, to Muirhevnamor Community Youth Project and Cox’s Demesne Youth & Community Project CLG today, October 14th.

Senator McGreehan commented, “ I am delighted to welcome Minister Browne to Dundalk today and thank him for the work he is undertaking to ensure a brighter future for our young people by supporting and driving measures to divert them away from crime and offer them real and positive alternatives.”

Budget 2022 has provided €6.7 million in funding to kickstart the Youth Justice Strategy.

Senator McGreehan added, “The core principle of the new Strategy, launched by Minister Browne earlier this year, is to maximise the opportunities available to young people to choose a different path towards a more constructive and fulfilling life and youth diversion projects play an important role in this.

“The funding allocated in the budget will enable us to bring more youth workers into our communities helping divert young people away from crime. It shows that Fianna Fáil is prioritising young people and making our communities safer.”
