Beaumont trolley crisis to get worse – Haughey
Fianna Fáil Dublin Bay North candidate Cllr Sean Haughey has warned that the Government’s flawed health policy will lead to more people on trolleys in Beaumont Hospital.
“There are 42 people without a bed in Beaumont Hospital today. The health crisis is going to get worse as the HSE has already confirmed that the government left health services short by €100 million in 2016 alone.
This is yet another example of the long list of broken promises. How can a hospital be expected to function when you have 42 patients without a bed?”
“Today there are 517 people on trolleys around the country – 180 of them in the six Dublin hospitals. The December Waiting Lists for Beaumont Hospital showed that since July 2014 when Leo Varadkar became Minister for Health there was an unacceptable increase of 3,163 people waiting more than 12 months for an Outpatients appointment. That is an increase of over 480%.
“The people of North Dublin have been let down by this Government.”
