Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North West Aindrias Moynihan is warning of fresh
delays in payments of the revised contributory pension as the Minister for
Employment Affairs & Social Protection has failed to issue an updated
application form for 2019 applicants.

Deputy Moynihan commented, “I obviously welcome the fact that payments and
arrears are now being processed for pensioners who were able to engage with the
review process.  The last number of
months have been extremely stressful for some of these pensioners as there were
a number of steps in the review process and there genuine fears that the
arrears payments would be further delayed.

“However I am concerned that the Department of Employment Affairs & Social
Protection has still not issued an updated application form for the State
Pension.

“The current form has not been updated to reflect the changes brought in under
the new legislation, therefore certain details that are needed to assess the
payment cannot be included.  New
applicants will have to be contacted by the Department to have their
information reviewed, which will undoubtedly lead to delays.

“I am calling on Minister Doherty to ensure that a revised application form, in
English and Irish, is issued as a matter of priority so that applicants can
include all relevant information from the outset”.
