Fianna Fáil TD for Sligo-Leitrim Eamon Scanlon has highlighted the urgent need for additional medical beds in Sligo University Hospital.
Deputy Scanlon commented, “We are still awaiting a capital plan for 2019. It is urgently required for Sligo University Hospital. We had record high trolley waiting times last year and lists have remained significant since.
“I raised this problem once again in the Dáil. The government must act. We are almost four months into the calendar year and no capital plan has materialised. This is a fine example of Fine Gael policy neglecting rural Ireland.
“We need approval of the additional medical beds promised nearly 12 months ago. It is vital the Minister and his Department intervene. I will continue to raise this with the Minister until action is taken,” concluded Deputy Scanlon.
