Cllr Paul McAuliffe has welcomed the addition of 1500 new trees for the local Tolka Valley Park As part of National Tree Week Dublin City Council in conjunction with Vodafone will hold a tree planting event at Tolka Valley Park Finglas at which the Lord Mayor Gerry Breen will officiate. Vodafone are sponsoring the tree planting to mark their shift to paperless billing and have undertaken to provide 1500 no. trees in 2011 and 3000 no. trees in 2012 to plant in our parkland. Dublin City Council Parks also have a planting project running which will see the planting of hedgerow along the boundary fencing at Tolka Valley Park over the next few years. 50 local pupils of St Finian’s National School will take part in the planting of hedge row on Monday next, and there will also be an opportunity to inspect the new cycle track which is nearing completion at the park.
